Snow progress

The guys have been great and they are making excellent progress on the slopes. I was so impressed that I ventured out myself on skis today and had a blast.

Not that we want to, but we are due back at 6pm. Please expected some tired and weather beaten children!

Day 1!

There's snow on them there hills!

Snow conditons great for our first day. It had snowed over night to leave a fresh blanket over the full of our valley.

Arrived - Dover

Hello mums and dads (and mummy Rennie)

That's us all arrived safe and sound at Dover! We've had a good day on the bus watching DVD's and munching Krispy Kreme doughnuts! So far the boys have triumphed in the quizzes as well as causing a toilet overflow (day 1 too)!

Further Travel Information

Ferry arrival time in France 2.30 am – local time

Breakfast in France between 6.00 am and 8.00 am

Expected Arrival Time in Resort between 2pm and 3pm Sunday 3^rd February (ski fitting to take place before going to hotel)

 

Ski Itinerary

Departure time is now confirmed at the 9^th of February 2013 at 11 am

Our schedule is

 

10.30 am – Meet to load bus

11.00 am – depart

                 - various stops to collect Interski staff / Comfort breaks

23.15 – P&O Ferry – Ref: DOCA 80466102

A typical snow day

·         0700 - Wake up call.

·         0730 - Up, dressed, tidy room before going down to breakfast.

·         0745 - Breakfast.

·         0815 - Up to bedroom, collect all you need for the day. Leave key at reception.

·         0830 - Depart from hotel

·         0900 - Collect equipment from ski hire

·         0930 - Get into your ski/board group and await your instructor

·         1000 - Ski and board lessons commence

·         1200 - Lunch using your vouchers, accompanied by instructor

·         1300 - Lessons recommence

·         1500 - End of lessons for the day

·         1530 - Check your equipment back into your ski hire lockers

·         1545 - Possible shopping or exploring the resort

·         1645 - Return to hotel

·         1730 - Shower, change for the evening

·         1830 - Evening meal

·         1945 - Evening entertainment

·         2200 - Return to hotel and to bed

·         2230 - Lights out for a good night's sleep to prepare for an exciting day tomorrow

·         2245 - Silence!

 

These timings will all be confirmed when we arrive in resort!

Leaving the school at 11 am sharp on Saturday the 9^th of February.

 

Please meet up at the school at 10.30am to give us plenty time to get the bus loaded and get those all important goodbye hugs out of the way!

Parents Information Evening

Parents Information Evening will be taking place next Tuesday the 22^nd of January.

If you aim to arrive at 4.20 pm at the Front Entrance we will meet you there, in order to start at 4.30 pm.

It should take no more than 30 minutes.

Clothing List

• 2 pairs of bases layers (thermals or leggings)
• 2 pairs of ski sock (to be worn over normal socks)
• an assortment of t-shirts and/or thin fleeces
• a backpack (to take snacks and water on the mountain)
• ski gloves
• ski goggles
• scarf or buff
• sun block
• evening clothing
• swimming clothing (will possibly be in our Après ski programme)

 

·         Remember that skis, boots and helmets are all included in the price; therefore there is no need to purchase these. Whilst we recommend taking extra clothing, please be aware that we have limited space for luggage and that the main piece of luggage should be no more than 30” x 15” x 15”. Only one item of hand luggage per person is permitted on board the bus.

 

·         Pupils should take their ski socks in their hand luggage as we will be fitted for our skis/boots on our immediate arrival.

Hi everyone, hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

Just a wee reminder,  we are still waiting on a lot of European health insurance cards. This will provide extra cover and save any medical bills in resort. Hopefully we never need to use them, but better safe than sorry.

Ski Information

We now have most of the final payments in - thanks very much, as these are due to be with Interski on Tuesday!

Just to keep you up to date with a few things, as some of our pupils don't seem to be handing over information letters.

Departure

We leave on the 9th of February, at this point in time the bus departure time is not yet confirmed, but it is looking like we will meet at 10.30 am to get the bus loaded in order to leave at 11. Please double check with me as this is NOT YET CONFIRMED.

We are heading to the Aosta Valley in Italy, skiing a resort called Pila. There is another Courmayoeur (spelling!?) which may have better snow. They are both equidistant from our Hotel so it won't change much.

Meals

Our meals on route. No meals are included on the Ferry, but we will be given a breakfast the following morning in a French service station.

On our return we will have a meal before we leave our Hotel and WILL have a meal on the P&O ferry.

Money

Food is completely included in the price we have paid to interski. What it doesn't include is soft drinks with dinner (water is!)

Lunches are included on the mountain - but pupils may want to take a little extra euros with them if they want to get some more fuel (no doubt in the form of chips!)

Parents Evening

Once we have completely confirmed everything to do with the trip we will see about organising an information evening. This could be difficult, as the school are charged for "letting" rooms in school and we may have to settle for information letters and phone calls. On the subject of phones, we are trying to get an old phone/new PAYG SIM card to take with us in the event of emergency calls. If anyone is desperate to get a hold of us then we are staying at the Hotel Le Clou: Aosta Valley ... details below ...
